The complexity that characterizes the performance of organizations operating in the market highlights the relevance of dynamic capabilities (DC) and their micro-foundations to achieve their goals. At the same time, the advancement of science and technology, especially in the last two decades, has contributed to making the competition between agents even more fierce, requiring organizational managers to review their business models to adapt to the new context. The new technologies that have stood out in the industrial field, in that period, are those that are part of the set called industry 4.0. In order to contribute to the debate on the topic at hand, the research was conducted, which aimed to analyze the relationship between DCs and I4.0 technologies. To reach the objective, we opted for the single case study strategy, in an organization of the metal-mechanic segment, located in Rio Grande do Sul. The approach used was qualitative, with the collection of empirical data through indepth interviews, documental survey and systematic non-participant observation. The empirical data obtained were submitted to content analysis. The research results showed that the decisions to invest, or not, in technologies of industry 4.0, considered the DCs, with emphasis on the established organizational culture and the organization’s history of investments in technologyl.
