This paper discusses how Extended Reality (XR) can support communication between people of different ages, especially grandparents and grandchildren, and how it can preserve historical memory. The study presents the case of a Ukrainian grandfather who survived World War II and was able to “revisit” his hometown through XR technology. The research was qualitative, based on interviews and analysis of existing projects. The results showed that XR helps connect generations, increases empathy, and preserves meaningful life stories. However, challenges were identified, such as limited access to technology and difficulties in use by older individuals.
